Dr. Thomas W. Speh, Senior Director of MBA Program, Miami University, Oxford, Ohio


Thomas W. Speh is Senior Director of MBA Programs at Miami University . He also holds a part-time position with CSCMP, as Director of Strategic Initiatives.  He had taught at Miami for 35 years prior to assuming his current role. He was the Director of the Warehouse Research Center at Miami University from 1986~2000 and during that time, the center conducted over 14 major studies.

Dr. Speh has published numerous articles in a variety of academic and professional journals, including the Harvard Business Review, MIT Sloan Management Review, Supply Chain Management Review, Journal of Marketing, and the Journal of Business Logistics.  Dr. Speh is a frequent speaker at logistics and supply chain conferences in the U.S. and has spoken at conference and management development seminars in over 20 different countries.

Dr. Speh is a past President of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) and a past president of the Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC).  In October of 2007, Dr. Speh received the Council of Supply Chain Management Professional’s Distinguished Service Award, and in May, 2008 he received the Warehousing Education and Research Council’s Lifetime Achievement award, only the 6th such award given by WERC in its 31 year history.

Professor Speh will analyze and evaluate the current development of international logistics, assess the supply chain environment where we are in, especially introduce excellent creation in the best supply chain practices. He has conducted researches on the key methodology which has an important impact on SCM based on the comprehensive analysis, including the application of supply chain performance indicators, balanced scorecard and other tools to improve performance of internal processes. He will also share his point of view as how senior executives involvement will have a bottom line impact on the enterprise.
