Topic: The Most Significant SCM Developments Impacting Business in the Next
10 Years
Professor Stock develops the concept of supply chain management
as the management of a network of relationships
within a firm and between interdependent organizations and business units consisting
of material suppliers, purchasing, production facilities, logistics, marketing,
and related systems that facilitate the forward
and reverse flow of materials, services, finances and information from
the original producer to final customer
with the benefits of adding value, maximizing
profitability through efficiencies, and achieving customer satisfaction.
Logistics and supply chain management, affecting the operational efficiency and
mode of operation, are related to the enterprise’s core competitiveness. In the
next decade, speed, risk management, forecasting, sustainability, energy and environmental
issues will have a significant impact on business operations. He will also take
a close look into reverse logistics and related issues in his presentation.
